The College Football Top 10 Bottom 10 list is a ranking of the ten most dramatic moments in college football history. They range from an undefeated season that ended with a loss to another team, injuries and scandals, surprises, upsets, game-winning plays and more.
College football’s Top 10 Bottom 10 moments of 2021. College football is a sport that has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but the bottom 10 moments in college football history are just as interesting. Read more in detail here: bottom 10 college football.
“What you just stated, Mr. Madison, is one of the most outrageously foolish things I’ve ever heard. You didn’t come close to having a reasonable notion in your meandering, nonsensical answer. Everyone in this room has become dumber as a result of listening to it. I deduct no points from your total, and may God have pity on your soul.”
“Billy Madison,” the Principal
We had shut out the lights in our office for the offseason here at Bottom 10 headquarters, nestled beneath the enormous vat of bronze polish that Alabama has been using to take care of all the trophies it took home last week. Although the electricity company had really switched them off, we had already begun our traditional post-regular-season slumber. However, when we checked ESPN, we saw an avalanche of “Best of 2021” pieces. There has been no lack of instructive and entertaining lookbacks on the best and brightest of the season that was, from All-America teams to finest comments to best moments.
Ugh.
With all due respect to my colleagues, how difficult is it to recall the season’s most memorable moments? That’s what they call “low-hanging fruit.” Anyone who has ever gone apple picking knows that the main struggle of the harvest is sifting through everything that has fallen to the ground and searching until you discover the items that you can still eat, even if it’s only after double-checking your tetanus vaccinations.
With that in mind, and without further ado, here are the Bottom 10 moments of the 2021 college football season, with apologies to Bryce Young, Emil von Behring, and Paul Harvey.
1. The Pillow Fight of the Century campaign at UMass
When UMess hosted U-Can’t on Oct. 9, we here at the Bottom 10 hailed it as the Pillow Fight of the Century and brazenly stated that there couldn’t possible be a lower low point for the rest of the season after the game was finished. We thought the 2021 Bottom 10 championship had been decided when the Minutemen won that game and celebrated like they hadn’t since turning the redcoats back at the Old North Bridge.

After that, UMass fell to Rhode Island. The coach was then dismissed by UMass. Then UMass was defeated by Maine. Then UMass finished the season with a defeat to New Mexico State in the Pillow Fight of the Century: Endgame, as we had to call it.

Then, since we were emotionally tired, we tossed all of our tea into a pond outside our neighborhood and lay down and slept for a week… until our HOA began beating on the door, demanding to know why the water smelled like Lipton.
2. Brian Kelly takes on the role of Farmer Fran.
Walking the red carpet and greenlighting sequels that no one wants are as much a part of Hollywood history as bad Southern accents. Dan Aykroyd unleashed the all-time linguistic depravity in “Driving Miss Daisy,” when he plainly prepared for the character of an Atlanta businessman by viewing a lot of Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. “WOULDN’T YA LIKE TO GO DOWN TO THA GRO-SUH-REE STOW, MUTHA?” But what Brian Kelly accomplished in the hours after he was hired at LSU elevated Aykroyd’s performance to Oscar status. Wait, we’re now hearing that Aykroyd was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for that role? Is this for real? Here’s a nice discussion from SportsCenter’s Elle Duncan on Kelly’s crime against the lilt, even if she tagged the incorrect Ryan McGee in her Twitter tweet…
someone acting as a Southern grifter, taking the Elle. Damn, that was hilarious. Thanks for the cameo, @ryanmcgee! pic.twitter.com/RIw55R2jZo

3. Florida Man collapses all the way to the escape door.
If you’ve ever seen or listened to “Marty & McGee,” you know that Mr. Smith and I are considered experts in phony Southern accents by some. You’re also aware that, owing to Hillbilly Headlines, we’re also experts on Florida Man’s adventures. But no story we covered could compare to the exploits of the Florida Man in Gainesville, who almost beat Alabama and then promptly explained how he doesn’t recruit in-season, browbeat the media for questioning how his team surrendered 52 points to FCS Samford, and was fired after an overtime heist. I wrote about it, spoke about it, and even did a Bottom 10 on it, so it was a bit odd when I walked up for “Marty & McGee” at the SEC championship game and discovered that said Florida Man had been hired as an analyst for the weekend.
Dawgs boo when they play Bama footage, while the tidal celebrates.
When they display UGA material, the bama boos and the dawgs applaud.
When Dan Mullen arrived, however, everyone booed lmaooo photo. twitter.com/7JzurTBnOY

4. Florida State University Broke-um bends it like a man.
But hey, at least Dan Mullen didn’t have to witness this in person since he was fired the week before the Florida State game…

5. The state of Florida A man is tormented by other men in South Florida.
And, hey, at least Florida fired Mullen instead of putting him in some kind of psychological torture room for a month like Miami did with Manny Diaz, firing the AD and conducting a very public job search complete with leaks of information to national news outlets… all while Diaz and his staff were on the road recruiting and reading all of that leaked information via all of those news outlets.
Mario Cristobal to Miami: “Manny Diaz, please terminate him for us. We lack the confidence to accomplish it on our own.”

6. When it comes to torture…
What if I told you that a regulation was put in place to avoid another game like the 2018 LSU-Texas A&M game, which went to seven overtimes and concluded with a 74-72 final score, and what we got instead was a 2021 Illinois-Penn State game that went to nine overtimes and ended with a score of… 20-18?!
Hello everyone, I just returned from a 23-hour train ride to witness Illinois defeat #7 Penn State 20-18 in nine overtimes. What did you think of your Saturday?

7. The Golden Fleshes of Kent State
Former Bottom 10 regular Kent State won their division and advanced to the MAC championship game with a dramatic overtime triumph against My Hammy of Ohio to wrap off the regular season. What’s the bad news? On their way to the championship game, they seem to have misplaced their normal outfits and were forced to wear UCLA’s practice team uniforms from 1972.
