Who are the candidates for Sports Personality of the Year?
Daley finally won an Olympic diving medal in his fourth Games, competing in the synchronized 10m platform event partner Matty Lee.
Since his first appearance on the international scene as a kid, the audience has followed him as he has won major championships, experienced his anguish when his father died of cancer, and rejoiced when he married and subsequently became a parent.
Then, at the age of 27, and 13 years after his Olympic debut, he won an emotional victory in the Tokyo Olympics.
Daley also took bronze in the men’s 10m platform, making him the first British diver to win four medals in the Olympics.

In October, Fury retained his WBC gold with a dramatic 11th-round victory against American Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.
He was knocked down twice in the fourth round before knocking out Wilder in a grueling battle to retain his title.
It cemented Fury’s place among the top heavyweights and established him as the dominating force in the trilogy versus Wilder, which began with a contentious draw in 2018 and ended with the British fighter winning their rematch in 2020.
Fury’s father, John, subsequently disclosed that his son underwent surgery on both elbows after sustaining a significant injury before to his second victory against Wilder.

Peaty made history again again when he won gold in the 100m breaststroke in Tokyo, becoming the first British swimmer to defend an Olympic title.
He blasted the rivals out of the water to win Britain’s first gold medal at the Games.
Peaty now has the 16 fastest times over the distance in history (this race was the fifth fastest), and he is the only swimmer to break the 57-second barrier with his 2019 world record.
He also played a key part in Great Britain’s unprecedented mixed 4x100m medley relay triumph and the men’s medley relay team’s silver medal.

Raducanu’s incredible run to win the US Open broke a 44-year wait for a British women’s Grand Slam singles winner.
She became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam championship in the Open era, defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez in straight sets.
Raducanu, at 18, won the event without dropping a set, becoming the youngest woman to win a Grand Slam since Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon at the age of 17 in 2004.
While waiting for her A-level results, the girl made a name for herself at Wimbledon, overcoming her 338 ranking to reach the fourth round before quitting from her last-16 match due to lung problems.

England made history at Euro 2020, reaching the final of a major tournament for the first time in 55 years before losing on penalties against Italy.
The Manchester City striker scored three goals in the tournament, including the game-winning goal in England’s historic last-16 victory over Germany.
Along with defenders Harry Maguire and Kyle Walker, Sterling was one of three England players named to Uefa’s squad of the tournament.
During the 2020-21 season, he also scored 10 Premier League goals as City won the championship for the third time in four years.

Storey’s place as Great Britain’s most successful Paralympian of all time was cemented with a 17th Paralympic medal.
Storey successfully defended her women’s C4-5 road race championship in Tokyo, putting her one gold ahead of former record holder Mike Kenny.
Storey’s gold was her third of the Tokyo Paralympics, and her eighth overall since making her debut as a 14-year-old swimmer in Barcelona in 1992.
She also won the individual pursuit on the track before winning the time trial, giving her a total of 28 Paralympic medals.
